2 small updates

First: considering that more and more people are having problems with downloading from Mediafire, I’ll be reuploading my files (including the ones I was too lazy to reupload from 4shared) to Google Drive sometime during this weekend or next week. Until then, IDK if this helps anyone, but I’ve managed to prevent pesky Mediafire pop-ups by adding 2 filters to my Adblock: purgrobi(dot)com and pygrexic(dot)com

Second: I didn’t forget about those retextures I previewed weeks ago. Turns out having a job is more demanding on one’s schedule than I anticipated 😛 Again, I expect to have the set done and uploaded sometime this weekend or next week at the latest.

Yay Cortázar! 😀

(boo Sartre xD)

:)) TBH I’ve never read anything by Sartre before that one play, and I quite liked it. But I love, love Cortázar. It’s been a while since a book has…

😀 Thank you so much for the list! I’ve read The Aleph by Borges and did like it, so you were spot on with that one!

Any opinions on Ernesto Sabato? I remember reading a book by him (Antes del fin, maybe?) almost 6 years ago and really enjoying his writing style. Now, a good friend of mine has been insisting that I try Abaddón el exterminador. Time issues aside, I’m pretty tempted.

I.. honestly don’t like him much. I read El túnel and Sobre héroes y tumbas (which goes before Abaddón, I think?) and he’s just so… Argentinian, ugh xD But his writing style is indeed impeccable and if you like deep psychological analysis of characters you’re going to love him (and if you don’t like the characters you’re pretty much screwed because he won’t give you a break). But your friend probably knows what you like way better than me so give it a try! He’s by no means a bad writer, on the contrary (?).

I usually love books (and films) that focus on thorough descriptions of their characters, but then there’s Dostoevsky 😛 Granted, I only read The Brothers Karamazov, and do plan on giving his books a second chance, but that novel was exasperating. It was a disappointing experience, because I heard so many good things about the author, but most of the characters just felt unnatural (?) to me. I just couldn’t connect with that book, no matter how much I tried.

It’s been a while since a book has captivated me to such an extent that I lost track of time. It also made me realise that I haven’t read a lot of South American literature 😦 So… if anyone can recommend me some good authors, I’m all ears (eyes?).

Meme thing

Name: Ruxandra
Current time and date: 12:20 PM, 29/03/2015 – finished at 13:36 because I’m easily distracted.
Average hours of sleep: ideally 8, failing that, at least 6
Last thing I Googled: Patrick Wolf, one of my few celebrity crushes. I was a fan of his about 6 years ago, and still Google pics of him every now and then.
Nickname: Ruxi
Birthday: 24 July
Gender: Female
Favourite colour: Can I have at least two favourites? ‘Cause I can’t pick between blue and green 😛
One place that makes me happy: The first place that comes to mind is Vama Veche, a small village by the seaside in my country. I had the best summer holidays there. The atmosphere there changed a lot, tough, so I probably won’t be going back 😦
Number of blankets I sleep under: 0-2 depending on the season.
Favourite movie: Don’t get me started on films, I was this close to making a separate blog with film reviews. 12 Angry Men, I guess? Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind is a close second.
What I am wearing: Black jeans, socks and an old green blouse I got as a gift for my 18th birthday.
Last book I read: Huis Clos (No Exit) by Jean-Paul Sartre. Currently reading a collection of short stories by Julio Cortázar.
Most used phrase: “sort of”, “[…] and shit”, and a Romanian equivalent of “oh, my God”.
Last thing I said to a family member: “Love you! Kisses! Bye!”
First words that come to mind: Bubbly
Favourite fictional character: Demian, from the eponymous novel by Hermann Hesse.
Favourite beverage: Tie between Earl Grey and mint tea.
Favourite food: Potatoes, no matter how you cook them.
Last movie I saw in the cinema: The Imitation Game. IMO, it gets a 7/10 because the screenplay was formulaic and felt historically inaccurate.
Dream vacation: Just any vacation would be fine right about now 😛
Dream wedding: Small, casual-dress, no ridiculous church service (I’d take a short, solemn one), no pagan customs and superstitions (I feel no emotional connection to them).
Dream pet: Dogs! And birds.
Dream job: Mine, but with less paperwork and better training.

Yup! Especially if you do it in unnaturals 😉

I’m definitely doing unnaturals. I’m not sure whether it’ll be solids or gradients yet.

I love short hair for my girls ❤

I would! 😀 The world needs more short, slightly-less-anime-looking female hairs, if you ask me!

Oh, I so agree. There can never be enough short hair meshes for females 😀
